How it Works
Solar Energy is produced by the photovoltaic panels which convert the sun’s energy to a purified form of electricity used in our households and workplaces. When the sunlight hits PV panels, the cells on the panels convert the sunlight into Direct Current (DC). The Inverter; connected to the panels, converts the DC power into Alternating Current (AC) electricity and sends it directly into the connected Distribution Box(DB), where it will power anything that uses electricity.

also known as grid-tie or grid-feed solar system
An On-grid solar system is connected to the electricity grid and has no battery storage. The electricity generated from the solar is used first and excess power if required is fed from the grid. Also excess electricity can be sold to the grid with net metering.

An off-grid system is not connected to the electricity grid and hence necessitates battery storage. The off-grid system needs to be designed in a manner so that the system has enough electricity production and storage to meet the consumer’s requirements.

A Hybrid system is connected to the electricity grid and also has battery storage. This means that the system can store solar energy that is generated during the day and use it at night. When the stored energy is exhausted, the grid is there as a substitute.
